New Year's Eve

Evidence of my new gold and black obsession

DIY New Year's Eve Pedicure

Base Color: Fair Game by Essie
Nail Art Colors: Kiss Nail Artist in white and silver glitter

I'm not greatest fan of my toes, but I was happy with how my first DIY pedi design came out. I started with Essie Fair Game, a shimmery blue gray and then tried my best to copy the professionals I can't afford right now.

Sorry I didn't clean up the edges yet!

The design is three lines in white and three lines in silver glitter with dots above the lines. I'll admit, it's not the best nail art I've ever done, but who stares at your toes anyway? Here's hoping for awesome DIY toes in the future!

New Jewelry!

A few months ago, a Charming Charlie store moved into my local mall. As an accessories addict, I am in LOVE. If you don't have one of these amazingly awesome stores in your area, you can order from their website CharmingCharlie.com. You should also write to your Congressman to get a store in your area.

On my last trip, I got this gorgeous Pave Crystal Necklace. It features a 26in gold chain with a sea foam pendent covered in crystals. I recently fell in love with this color combination, possible because it reminds me of Jasmine from Aladdin.

Yesterday I wore it as a statement piece with a black long sleeved v-neck top and "diamond" stud earrings.

What I'm Reading

I just finished a fiction novel called Dreaming Anastasia. I picked it up in Borders during their going out of business sale. I’ve always had an interest in Anastasia Romanov, and I especially love the animated movie (I actually looked at a “Together in Paris” necklace on Etsy).

The book follows Anne Michaelson, a modern day seventeen year old girl who has dreams that connect her to the last Grand Duchess of Russia, Anastasia Romanov, who through magic and betrayal, is still alive. Ethan, a hot guy with a long history, shows up and tells Anne it’s her destiny to save Anastasia.

It may not have been the best written YA novel, but I really enjoyed the story. It certainly stands out from every other Anastasia story. Joy Preble switches between first person narrations from three different characters very nicely, which can often be difficult to read.

If you’re looking for an easy vacation read and have some interest in Russian folklore/Romanov stories, I recommend Dreaming Anastasia. Next up, The Magnolia League by Katie Crouch!

Stylish Christmas Nails

Base Color: Master Plan by Essie
Nail Art Color: Kiss Nail Artist in black

For Christmas Eve, I did candy cane nails, but I wanted something a bit more high fashion for a Christmas party. I know most people think of Chinchillly when they want a gray Essie, but I love Master Plan. Because it’s lighter I think it works in all seasons.

I had originally thought of doing an argyle design, but in the end the Xs seemed a lot more fun (and easier!). I swear, this is one of the quickest and easiest nail arts you will ever do.

Hey, Abigail, Can I Borrow Your Dress?

Abigail Breslin arrived at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie New Year's Eve looking absolutely gorgeous in a white dress from the Marchesa Fall 2011 collection. She accessorized with champagne colored peep toes, diamond posts, blue/gray smokey eyes, and pink lips.

In the movie, now playing in theaters, Abigail plays Sarah Jessica Parker's daughter, Hailey. The romantic comedy features her first on-screen kiss with Wizards of Waverly Place Star Jake T. Austin.

I absolutely love this look. She looks great and totally appropriate for her age, which can definitely be attributed to her fun hair and makeup. And how can you not love that little hoop skirt? Will you be seeing New Year's Eve?
