My Jason Wu Buys

I told you all earlier about my Sunday trip to Target to snag the designer collaboration with Jason Wu. I got five pieces (because all of the purses were gone!), and here they are, but first, please excuse my photos. I am very out of practice on how to take a good outfit picture!

Let me start with this A-line dress that I go between calling the Rachel Berry Dress and the Zooey Deschanel Dress. It's really fun and flirty, but still conservative, so I could definitely wear it to work. It zips all the way of the back and looks really cute with a skinny belt.

This outfit was extremely hard to photograph. The blouse has a box cut, so it was a bit difficult to keep in properly tucked in the skirt while I ran back from setting the timer on my camera. I can tell you thought that in person today it looked super 1950s cute and I got a few compliments at work.

I was really excited about this floral print dress. It is surprisingly comfortable and contains no buttons or zippers. The fit is really nice and the yellow belt does a great job of defining my waist, although it is a little big.

Lastly, there is this cardigan. I didn't take a picture of me wearing it, but I can tell you that it looks really adorable on me. It's got this wonderful stitching and it is very comfortable. I'll be rocking this a lot.

I Got Jason Wu!

This morning at ten minutes after ten o'clock I walked [read: ran] into my local Target store for the coveted Jason Wu collection.

There was already a girl there browsing the too small racks, throwing garments into a pushed by her boyfriend. I dove in, sans cart, and started grabbing as many items as I could (well, the ones I wanted anyway, I wasn't that girl). I picked up two dresses, a blouse, a skirt, a shirt that I though belonged to a dress, another skirt, and the last light blue cardigan there was. I was delighted to see that there was a range of sizes that didn't stop at medium and size 8.

The women at the fitting room told me I couldn't take all of my items with me, so I left the blue cardigan at the desk, knowing I'd be buying it no matter what. I was pleasantly surprised once I go the clothes on. They fit wonderfully and weren't too short, which was something I started to get really worried about prior to shopping.

I ended up buying the two dresses, one shirt (the blouse), one skirt, and of course, the cardigan. But before I could do that I had to verify repeatedly to the fitting room attendants and other shoppers that I did indeed like the clothes and I would be buying them. (One of those people was a sixty year old women in the same black skirt I was buying who wouldn't shut up about how weird the lining of it was).

I'll post pictures of the pieces later, but let me say that the collection is so great if you like feminine, 1960s style clothing. The fit is what you would expect of normal, not high fashion designer, clothing, so don't worry about not being sample size. If you want it though, you're going to have to go the store.

I looked online when I got home because my store didn't have the entire collection, and I really wanted that white dress and the cat shirt. Only a small handful of the clothes are available for online purchase. My store was also completely out of the bags (yes, by ten!), but they weren't really online either.

If you want a big selection, hit up a bigger area instead of a Target in a smaller city. You will also want to get there fast, since I don't know if stores will be restocking, and if they do, it probably won't be a lot. The Jason Wu collection is in stores until March 6th.

Swoon: The Entire Jason Wu for Target Collection

It's like a pretty, preppy dream. After getting a sneak peak last week, the entire Jason Wu for Target collection is available for viewing, and subsequently, drooling over.

Since there are roughly thirty pieces in the collection, I didn't want to post that many pictures. Instead, you can find all of them over at Refinery 29.

But first, let me tell you what I love about this collection:
1. It's conservative. I could wear this to work without tights or camisoles.
2. It's girly. The prints, the bows, I mean come on, there are so many dresses!
3. It's retro. The Versace for H&M line sometimes makes me wonder if we've stepped into a future where everyone wears leather.
4. There's a bag with a freaking cat on it. Enough said.

Another Target/Designer Collaboration: Jason Wu

We all remember the chaos and terror that resulted from Missoni teaming up with Target. The collection sold out in minutes and women were clawing to get their hands the printed knits. Now imagine that times the awesomeness that is Jason Wu.

 I am basically going to be buying EVERY SINGLE PIECE of this collection. It's absolutely amazing. 

 Also, I am now recruiting people to come with me to Target to fight off other budget fashionistas.
