Samantha Barks will be playing the role of Eponine, putting to bed all "rumors" that T. Swizzle was cast. While Samantha is new to the silver screen, she's no stranger to the stage. She even starred as Eponine once before in the 2010 London production. [via]
This is not the first time that the role has switched actresses. Earlier reports stated that Lea Michele was the front runner for Eponine. Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood were also considered. [via]
Am I upset that Taylor won't be in the movie? I'm not sure. Seeing her act is still a new frontier for me, despite her cameo in Valentine's Day and Saturday Night Live gig. Could she have rocked it? Yeah, she certainly could have, but maybe there's a better opportunity waiting.

I love Taylor Swift to no end but the part of Eponine in "Les Miserables" is the wrong part for her completely. I know in my theatre community there was a lot of backlash for even considering her.
ReplyDeleteI saw Samantha Barks in the 25th anniversary concert edition of "Les Miserables" and she was absolutely, completely fantastic and is defiantly the correct choice for this production.
