New Brave Trailer!
I am so excited for this movie! If you didn't know that Merida was fierce before, you do now. I love her wild red hair (reminds me of my own), and she's going to be eleventh official Disney princess. The first one ever created by Pixar!
Brave, which is Pixar's first film with a female lead, comes out June 22, 2012.

The Hunger Games is Showing in IMAX
I find this very exciting! I normally don't go for IMAX movies (I can count the amount I've gone to on one hand), but I am on board with this.
I love the idea of The Hunger Games being all up in my face. The story itself is larger than life, so why shouldn't the screen that shows be too? The tickets are going to be about $17, but I think it will be worth it. Would you see The Hunger Games in IMAX?

A New Mary Poppins Movie?
I know what you're thinking, but no, this is not a remake of the classic 1964 film starring Julie Andrews. Instead, it would be about how Walt Disney persuaded Mary Poppins author, P.L. Travers to work with the Mouse.
The movie, currently titled Saving Mr. Banks, would follow the fourteen years Walt spent convincing Travers to sell her rights and let him make her books into a film. But a large portion would be spent on Travers' connection to her magical nanny, since the original Mary Poppins was a very personal piece of work.
So who is rumored to be in this film? Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep! Yes, you read that right. Two of my favorite actors playing one of my idols and a woman who ended up hating Disney (I'll try to let it go, Meryl). What do you think of this new movie? [via]

Lionsgate released another trailer for The Hunger Games, and as you can imagine I'm freaking out. I am so excited for this movie. Also, Stanley Tucci is in it. I am in love with Stanley Tucci and I want him to be my best friend, so March can't come fast enough.

Woah, What Do You Mean Taylor Swift Isn't in Les Mis Anymore?
Director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) is making a much anticipated star-studded adaption of the musical Les Miserables. The film has names like Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway attached. At one point, Taylor Swift was included in that list, but not anymore.
Samantha Barks will be playing the role of Eponine, putting to bed all "rumors" that T. Swizzle was cast. While Samantha is new to the silver screen, she's no stranger to the stage. She even starred as Eponine once before in the 2010 London production. [via]
This is not the first time that the role has switched actresses. Earlier reports stated that Lea Michele was the front runner for Eponine. Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood were also considered. [via]
Am I upset that Taylor won't be in the movie? I'm not sure. Seeing her act is still a new frontier for me, despite her cameo in Valentine's Day and Saturday Night Live gig. Could she have rocked it? Yeah, she certainly could have, but maybe there's a better opportunity waiting.
What do you think of the role change?

What I'm Reading: The Hunger Games
There's been a lot of talk about The Hunger Games recently, even though the first book in the trilogy came out in 2008. Why? The movie, of course.
I admit, I didn't really know anything about The Hunger Games. I saw it come up occasionally when being compared to Twilight (all arguments said it was vastly better in all forms), but other than that, nothing. Then I saw this trailer:
Oh my goodness! Are you intrigued? I was. If you didn't watch because you don't want to spoil it for yourself, I'll give you a brief intro. Every year a girl and a boy from each of the twelve districts in the country of Panem (once North America) must participate in the Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death. When her younger sister is chosen, Katniss Everdeen volunteers as tribute to the Games. Cue danger, alliances, survival, and some conflicting emotion towards her District 12 male counterpart.
I devoured this book. It is so amazing I could see why both girls and guys love the series. The characters are so (what's another word for amazing?) spectacular, and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Half way through the book I wasn't sure how this could turn into a trilogy, but then a couple turn of events convinced me otherwise. I absolutely recommend that you read this book. Believe the hype, they are fantastic. I'm going to pick up the next one this week, so go read it!

Are you going to go see it in 3D? Are you only going to see the Tangled Ever After short?
